Abstract

This article presents a comprehensive study of Un minuto de sombra no nos ciega (1976), the fourth installment in the film cycle that the H&S studio devoted to Chile between 1974 and 1986. It interprets the film in light of the complex backdrop of the Cold War and the studio’s distinctive editorial policy, emphasizing the various (counter)propaganda operations it brings together and the leading role of television in the battle for truth. Combining historical and cinematic approaches, the article mobilizes a constellation of diverse sources to illuminate the complex ecosystem surrounding the film.
