Why does economic stabilization fail in Argentina? Exchange rate crises and macroeconomic policy decision dilemmas

El texto analiza cómo la Argentina posdictadura intentó resolver la tensión entre la estabilización macroeconómica y la supervivencia política de sus gobiernos. Señala por un lado, que la inestabilidad macroeconómica (inflación alta o crisis de balanza de pagos) conlleva costos significativos, como desorganización económica y debilitamiento de los gobiernos. Por el otro, que mantener la estabilidad macroeconómica resulta costoso para los gobiernos ya que implica alterar rentas de actores privados, ingresos estatales y de los trabajadores. El texto analiza las experiencias de Argentina de estabilización macroeconómica y la supervivencia política de los gobiernos, destacando los desafíos y las decisiones difíciles que deben tomarse en ese contexto.
