Memory culture on websites in post-dictatorial Chile: actors and trendsAbstract

This article sets out to investigate how the military regime of Augusto Pinochet is remembered and presented on the websites of different providers. It seeks to find out to what extent these forms of online presentation show parallels to established memory practices outside the digital realm and whether commemorative web offers have a unique characteristic in this respect. To this end, we first identify groups of providers of websites about the Chilean dictatorship. In a second step, one particularly representative site from each of the three identified provider groups will be analysed. Finally, we outline some trends in Chilean online memory culture, focusing on the supply side (and not on the user side).
